Apply now for the BBQ+ 2025-26 Academic Fellowship!
BBQ+ is excited to announce that we are now accepting applications for our 2025-26 Academic Fellowship!
Academic Fellowship
The Center for Black, Brown, and Queer Studies (BBQ+) is an independent Center dedicated to interdisciplinary research, pedagogy, and mentorship in critical race, Indigenous, postcolonial, and queer studies. Our fully virtual fellowship, supported by the Mellon Foundation, brings together a diverse group of scholars from undergraduates to postgraduates working across these fields in a collaborative and supportive environment.
As a fellow, you’ll receive mentorship, career development advice, and writing support as you establish yourself either within an academic institution or as an independent educator and researcher. You’ll attend the virtual weekly fellowship workshops (Fridays, 12-2 PM ET), where you’ll participate in the writing clinic, read theory, and engage with BBQ+’s intellectual community. Academic fellows are also offered a research stipend, which is based on their academic cohort:
College students: $1000
Master’s students/ Early PhD students: $2000
Advanced PhD students: $5000
Recent postdoctoral scholars: $10,000
Applications submitted by May 18, 2025, will receive full consideration. Click here to learn more and apply today!
