Introducing the BBQ+ Library

If BBQ+ builds new systems outside of academic institutions to support marginalized scholars, what does this look like for a BBQ+ library? How can a fully virtual library challenge oppressive knowledge management structures? These questions energize Sarah Clinton-McCausland, BBQ+’s new librarian. Alongside collaborators inside and outside the organization, the BBQ+ Library will explore these questions and support the work of the BBQ+ community, aiming to:

  • Provide virtual research, technology, and instructional design support for Fellows, staff, and community members.

  • Connect scholars with research specialists and resources inside and outside their institutions.

  • Support the Pedagogy Lab with creating, publishing, and distributing its open educational resources (OER).

  • Archive Cosmologics and other BBQ+ publications and media.

  • Promote accessibility and universal design and enhance the online spaces at BBQ+.

  • Host speakers and discussions about critical librarianship.

  • And more!

In addition, as part of the Boarding School Education History Project, the library will help develop a meta-archive that documents the impacts of boarding school education on Indigenous thought, incorporating Indigenous and land-based systems of knowledge organization and archiving.

In the coming months, we’ll share more information on the library’s webpage. Please email sarah_cm@bbqplus.org to work with the library, get research assistance, or join our advisory board!
