The Center for Black, Brown, and Queer Studies (BBQ+) is a nonprofit organization that aims to activate, connect, and mobilize communities of students, educators, researchers, and activists to dismantle the structural barriers that prevent the full participation and leadership of Black, Indigenous and People of Color (BIPoC), especially LGBTQ+ BIPoC, in spaces of learning and education. All of our programming is rooted in our commitment to addressing inequities by raising historical and cultural awareness around the intersections of race, gender, sexuality, socioeconomic status, citizenship status, and colonialism.

As an organization focused on dismantling barriers for underrepresented and underserved minorities, we believe in the importance of having the communities we serve represented within our leadership. This is why our organization is majority-led by scholars who understand the day-to-day lived realities of holding intersectional identities in systems of structural inequality.
